Atonement

Atonement can be defined as “the act of making amends for a wrong or injury. (Oxford Dictionary)

“In the bible to atone is to suffer the penalty for sins and thereby removing the effects of sin from the repentant sinner. Allowing him/her to be reconciled with God.” ( http://www.lds.org/)

Jesus Christ was the ONLY one capable of carrying out atonement for all mankind. He made amends for us.

Now if we stop and think about how awesome that is, how can we not give praise to our almighty God? He sacrificed his only son for us. He loved us so much that his son, Our Saviour Jesus Christ was beaten, whipped, mocked, and left to hang on a cross. Would you sacrifice someone you love for the good of the world?

Even though it happened 1980 years ago, Jesus was thinking of us as He was crucified

“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.”

                                                                           1 Peter 2:24                                                                                                               

So when you feel that you are not good enough or unworthy of God’s love, remember the day when Jesus hung on the cross for YOU.

Now It is only right for us to live lives pleasing to our God for the sacrifice he made for us, by abiding by his word.

“For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

1 Corinthians 6:20      

                                                                                              We belong to God body, soul and spirit. He directs our paths, plans our futures, and provides a strong foundation.  So by glorifying God in all that we do, we are honouring the sacrifice he made for us.

And furthermore fulfilling the purpose on this earth by giving him all the glory, whether it be in our careers, our studies, or on the sport field. It is our duty. Yes it can be difficult at times but think of all that Jesus went through for us, so that we may be connected to the Father.

So this prayer is one to give you strength and to encourage you to live a live pleasing to God, remembering that He died so that We may live.

Dear Lord Jesus

I ask that you give me the strength to live each day according to your will, I pray that you will walk with me everyday and make me more sensitive to your spirit in my life so that I may honour you all the days of my Life.

Make me an example to those around me so that they see that it is not I but You who shines through me.  I thank you for the sacrifice you made for me and I am eternally grateful to you.
